Viet Nam Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution Network to Launch in 2024

Building on the MoU agreement signed in September 2023, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the World Economic Forum have established a Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution Network in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam (HCMC C4IR). The centre will be an autonomous, non-profit organization, leading on policy and governance for emerging technologies in a number of areas with a focus on green growth, smart cities, AI, etc.

“Quote from Mr. Phan Văn Mãi, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City: The establishment of the C4IR  in Ho Chi Minh City has a great significance for the City’s major development goals and orientations, not only serving for research and mobilizing of experience, resources, capital, technology, etc. for Ho Chi Minh City herself but also for national goals. In addition, Ho Chi Minh City can participate in global initiatives of the World Economic Forum, thereby establishing a comprehensive ecosystem to promote new growth drivers, attract investment, and enhance economic growth and her competitiveness. I believe that HCMC C4IR is a reliable and effective platform to step up cooperation between Vietnamese experts, researchers, business community with international partners.”

“Quote from Forum Leadership”

HCMC C4IR will be hosted by the Saigon High Tech Park. The creation of a Fourth Industrial Revolution Centre will be a significant milestone in the partnership between the Forum and Viet Nam, geared to help advance Viet Nam’s ambitious innovation and growth agenda through international, multi-stakeholder collaboration

An arena for public-private cooperation on Fourth Industrial Revolution

The Fourth Industrial Revolution has led to technological breakthroughs in many fields, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, IoT and robotics, 3D printing, nanotechnology, and biotechnology, among others.

The Forum’s global network is a platform for multi-stakeholder collaboration bringing together public and private sectors to maximize technological benefits to society while minimizing the risks associated with 4IR technologies.

Second ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution Centre’ in the region

HCMC C4IR will be a platform through which the nation will shape the development of local and national 4IR strategies in line with its national development strategy and contribute to the global trajectory of these technologies. The Centre is the second in the SEA region following Centre launched in Malaysia and it will become a hub of expertise to co-designVia and pilot future-focused policy frameworks that enable the development and deployment of technology regionally and globally.
