Official Guidance on Entry and Visa Requirements for Viet Nam

The Organizing Committee of the Autumn Economic Forum 2025 is pleased to extend its warmest welcome. To facilitate your travel to Viet Nam for this important event, we have prepared this official guidance summarizing Viet Nam's current entry and visa exemption policies.

We kindly request you to review this information carefully.

1. Key visa exemption programs (45-day stay)

The Government of Viet Nam has implemented significant visa exemption programs beneficial for international travelers.

A. Unilateral visa exemption (Resolution No. 44/NQ-CP) Viet Nam grants visa exemption for citizens of the following 12 countries:

  • Denmark (Kingdom)
  • Finland (Republic)
  • France (Republic)
  • Germany (Federal Republic)
  • Italy (Republic)
  • Japan
  • Korea (Republic)
  • Norway (Kingdom)
  • Russia (Federation)
  • Spain (Kingdom)
  • Sweden (Kingdom)
  • United Kingdom (UK)

This policy permits a stay duration of 45 days from the date of entry, regardless of passport type or entry purpose. This policy is effective from March 15, 2025, until March 14, 2028.

B. Tourism Stimulus Program (Resolution No. 229/NQ-CP) Additionally, under a Tourism Stimulus Program, citizens of the following 12 countries are granted visa exemption:

  • Belgium
  • Bulgaria (Republic)
  • Croatia (Republic)
  • Czech (Republic)
  • Hungary (Republic)
  • Luxembourg
  • Netherlands
  • Poland (Republic)
  • Romania
  • Slovak (Republic)
  • Slovenia (Republic)
  • Switzerland (Confederation)

This exemption is valid for a stay of up to 45 days for tourism purposes, regardless of passport type. This policy is effective from August 15, 2025, until August 14, 2028.

Conditions for Program B: Delegates utilizing this program must meet the following entry conditions under Vietnamese law: (i) Hold a passport that is valid for at least six (06) months from the date of entry. (ii) Not fall into the cases of entry refusal as prescribed by Vietnamese law.

2. Bilateral visa exemption agreements

Viet Nam has also concluded numerous bilateral visa exemption agreements. While many of these apply specifically to holders of Diplomatic or Official passports, several agreements also extend exemptions to holders of Ordinary passports.

Notable examples include, but are not limited to:

  • 90-day stay: Chile (Republic) , Panama (Republic)
  • 30-day stay: Cambodia (Kingdom) , Indonesia (Republic) , Laos (People’s Democratic Republic) , Malaysia , Mongolia , Myanmar (Union) , Thailand (Kingdom).
  • 14-day stay: Brunei Darussalam

3. Special provisions

  • Phu Quoc Island: Holders of foreign passports are exempted from visa requirements for entry into and exit from Phu Quoc island, with a duration of stay not exceeding 30 days. This exemption also applies if visitors transit through other international border gates of Viet Nam before arriving in Phu Quoc.
  • British National (Overseas) Passports: Please note that foreigners holding British National (Overseas) (BNO) passports are not exempted from visa requirements and must have appropriate visas to enter Viet Nam.

4. Important recommendation for all delegates

This document is intended for guidance purposes. Entry and visa policies are subject to change by governmental decree.

The Organizing Committee strongly advises all delegates, including those from visa-exempt countries, to contact the nearest Embassy or Consulate General of Viet Nam in their jurisdiction well in advance of their travel to confirm their specific entry requirements.
